The post Meta’s Chief Data Officer Says Agentic Commerce is the “Next Tier of Business” appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com.
In a wide-ranging conversation on CoinDesk Spotlight, Schultz laid out a view of Meta’s future in which agentic commerce is not a product category but an inevitability. “We think it might be the next tier of business for our entire company,” he told host, Sam Ewen. The Agentic Economy Is Already Here, But It’s Unevenly Distributed Schultz framed the agentic economy the same way science fiction author William Gibson framed the future: already present, not yet mainstream. “We are building business agents for all businesses,” he said. “We have over a million weekly active businesses with Meta agents[…] from basically nothing at the start of the year.” The use case he outlined was deliberately mundane: coordinating a child’s birthday party. Agents booking times, checking calendars, finding venues, communicating with other parents’ agents, all on WhatsApp. The point o

GenLayer Foundation and a cohort of crypto firms, including MetaMask, OKX, Matter Labs’ ZKsync and 0G Labs have backed the launch of Internet Court, an open standard that handles escrow funds and settles contract disputes for AI agents. What is Internet Court for AI agents? According to GenLayer, Internet Court is a standard to connect agentic protocols into one lifecycle: discovery and reputation, negotiation, contracts, payment and escrow, execution, and lastly verification and disputes. To date, the agentic commerce development has occurred across multiple layers and different protocols. Coinbase’s x402 settles payments, A2A takes care of agent-to-agent negotiation, and the ERC-8004 standard handles agent identity. What GenLayer is pitching Internet Court as is the venue to resolve the unavoidable situation where two agents read the same contract different

A group of crypto and Web3 firms that includes OKX, MetaMask, Matter Labs and Genlayer have formed the “Internet Court” to reach dispute resolutions between AI agents. These days, AI agents negotiate and pay one another without humans in the loop, but as with human-to-human transactions, agent-to-agent transactions will run into contractual disagreements. The problem is that agentic systems have no way to settle these disputes, and traditional courts are not built to handle such cases. Hence the need for the 27-firm-backed protocol, led by the Genlayer Foundation, which makes AI-based payments, escrow and dispute resolution interoperable, according to a press release. Agentic commerce is not prepared for the potential fallout when agents disagree at machine speed, according to David Riudor, CEO and co-founder of the GenLayer Foundation. “Internet Court is the shared plac
